TSC is run day-to-day by its executive committee (below), with support from staff in the Technical Services department. However, the vast majority of actual event work is done by our members.

No! We're a working committee, which is like a society, but does something that provides a service for the whole Students' Union. This means it doesn't cost anything to join; you just need to come to a short health & safety session.

Most of our training is delivered on events, where members can shadow more experienced members.

However, we also run dedicated training sessions:

• Every Wednesday, we run short training sessions that cover topics our members have asked us about, or we think would be useful.

• Just after the Christmas break we run a week-long training program which allows members to have full responsibility for sound, lighting, or video on an event.

• Over the summer, we run Senior Training. After this, members can work nearly any position, including Stage Manager.

Reciprocal members of the Students' Union (which includes students at most universities) can join TSC. Please get in touch to check!

Sheffield Hallam Students: We already have a number of members from Hallam. We think the practical experience TSC offers is particularly valuable to event management students. You can sign up here.

We're always interested in recruiting experienced members. Many of our members had previous experience in live event or theatre tech.

We use a wide variety of technology including:

• Allen and Heath dLive sound desk

• Avolites Quartz lighting desk

• Resolume Arena

If you have experience in these, we'd love to have you. Don't worry if you've only used different technology before, you'll find your skills will be easily transferable to our tech.
